Habitats and Hillforts

Welcome to Habitats and Hillforts – the website for the new Landscape Partnership Scheme focusing on the chain of historically important hill top Iron Age forts that lines Cheshire's Sandstone Ridge. Habitats and Hillforts is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund and a partnership of local organisations and residents who are working together to improve the hillforts and their surrounding habitats; enhance access and interpretation, and provide more opportunities for volunteering and training in archaeological and ecological survey techniques and conservation measures.The Scheme has four inter-related programmes of work:
